The DBCC submitted our proposal/request to DAS on March 19th. We understand it is to be considered and we will be presenting at the PLAC at the upcoming meeting on April 23 at 1:30PM.
We are pleased to announce letters of support from various organizations & officials. Here is the link to those letters:
The Dome Building Community Coalition is guided by a clear threefold mission: to develop income-restricted housing for youth, young adults, workforce renters, and seniors; to preserve and steward the historic Dome Building; and to activate the space for lasting public benefit. This blog shares the thinking, planning, and community collaboration behind that work. Here you will find updates on affordable housing development, historic preservation strategy, policy alignment, and the practical steps required to transform a landmark into a living, mission-driven community asset.
Please join us on Tuesday, February 10th at 7PM for our quarterly dome building meet-up!

The Dome Building Community Coalition (DBCC) is pleased to announce that our efforts to acquire the Dome Building have borne fruit!
The Dome Building is a pivotal investment opportunity, serving as both a cultural icon and an economic engine for Marion County. Despite its appeal, the expansive deferred maintenance and historical obligations deter private buyers, shrinking appraised values and prolonging listing periods. Particularly challenging is the need for major system restorations before any revenue generation can occur. For organizations without a preservation focus or access to public funds, the high costs and potential risks are too overwhelming compared to newer properties. If we wait to take action, we risk exacerbating these issues, resulting in further depreciation of the building's value, increased restoration costs, and a potential loss of cultural heritage. However, The Dome Building Community Coalition (“DBCC”) can convert these perceived obstacles into lasting community benefits, transforming liabilities into valuable public assets through strategic public investment.
