Planning and Partnership Efforts Continue for the Dome Building Project

The Dome Building Community Coalition continues to make steady progress toward acquiring and activating Salem’s historic Dome Building.  

Since our last update, we have been working with state and local agencies as we move through the process to activate and preserve the Dome Building, including discussions related to permitting, occupancy, and historic preservation requirements. We have also expanded conversations with community partners, nonprofit organizations, housing advocates, and potential supporters interested in the long-term success of the project.
At the same time, our team is refining plans for how the building could serve Salem through a combination of affordable housing, community space, educational programming, and nonprofit collaboration.

While significant work remains ahead, we are highly encouraged by the progress being made and the positive response we continue to receive from stakeholders across the community.
